Since I'm new on this forum and this is my first post - Greetings to all members! Is Linux FINALLY Fixed on Ryzen 3000 CPUs?
Motherboard will be based on B chipset. I am trying to find some information on how well now g works with Linux, as I want to know what issues could I expect. I am most interested in direct experience if any of forum members here have this CPU, and how well and stable it performs on Manjaro. Of course I allready googled for some info on this topic, but it is not very conclusive, so I prefer to hear direct experiences. I guess, since Vega 8 is integrated graphics, it uses as much RAM as you allow it.
My MSI B mobo does get a lot of updates, every few months. Almost every new gen mobo's have that option to easy update bios.
The problem is I can't find much Ryzen 3 g users on Linux And one other thig is also interesting me, since I do not plan to use any dedicated graphic card, how well dual-monitor will work on that integrated Vega 8, since dual monitor is must have for my work Hello, I am not new to Linux but have less than 6 months using Manjaro.
I built this hardware system 3 months ago and am very happy, Manjaro runs very well on it.
Thanks aaanadie, but both you and cofeetron have an AMD processor without integrated graphics, most of my concerns are how that Vega integrated graphics is supported and how well it will work and what issues could I expect. So, I'm interested only in AMD processors with Vega 8 integrated experiences, not AMD processors generally, as they alone don't have any special reason not to work well with Linux.
Absolutely no issues with that. Librewishthanks for your input, this looks promising Do you maybe have a spare monitor to connect on other mobo port and see if dual monitor setup works? I plan to use 2 DDR4 modules of 4, or 2 modules of 8 gb, in any case two modules.
Normally it should work OK. With We will soon prepare The feedback is normally good now. Glad to hear that! I'll check Steam Gaming and video encoding Kdenlive. Will report then. We always failed to load the live sessions. We finally succeeded to install We even saw the lightdm login screen with Linux54 RC but right after login to the Xfce desktop our box always freezes with a green screen.
We now happily run this system on Linux53 stock 5. Librewish - Ryzen 3 g is not Raven Ridge, it is Picasso successor of Raven Ridgedoes this patch addresses it too?
Manjaro with Ryzen 3 g Vega 8 any experience? General Discussion. Srdjan 7 November 1. I assume the BIOS on motherboard is up to date, and firmware's are updated too. Srdjan 7 November 3. Coffeetron 7 November 4. Can't help you with the specific Ryzen, I have a Ryzen 5 I believe B will be updated even more often.
Srdjan 7 November 5. How well it works with Linux?I'm new to Arch Linux, I have been getting random freezes ever since I install arch. When it's frozen the only way is to restart. I tried these kernels pacman -Q grep linux linux 5. Update your system and try the new 5. I cannot attest to these newer Ryzen chips, but on my the only thing that stopped all the random freezes was to set Power Supply Idle from Auto to Typical in the bios.
You should really set up the early microcode or update your UEFI in that case, because this doesn't sound like purely graphics driver related at this point. FWIW you should be able to omit the amdgpu and at least get to a terminal with. Any freezes under 5. Because 5.

So if anyone knows how good the support is now that would be helpful. Both under Ubuntu We are quite happy with these APU. Change the kernels to Linux 4. To install Ubuntu with a live USB, we had to add the option "nomodeset" to the Grub2 to avoid a split screen. With the Asrock, I still have some problems to start the PC, it needs sometimes a couple of tries.
But when it starts, the system is rock solid. No problem what so ever with Asus. Only change was to use VLC instead of Videos to play mp4's to avoid some freezing. So I have decided not to use the System, as I am a programmer, system stability is of paramount importance. I have switched to my older system till Kernel 5. I hope by then stability and random freezing will stop. I have not had any issues while web browsing or video streaming yet. There are no booting issues at the moment, except that the splash screen does not show.
Update : It also works well without any problems using a 4K screen resolution. Disclaimer: I did not test heavy 3D operations like gaming. Ubuntu Community Ask! Sign up to join this community. The best answers are voted up and rise to the top. Home Questions Tags Users Unanswered.

We use 2 Raven Ridge at home. It wasn't too difficult to get stable systems We had to: Change the kernels to Linux 4. Get the latest mesa with the Oibaff repository. Get the latest BIOS for the motherboards. Sorry for my english. Elder Geek Pitchizig Pitchizig 1 1 bronze badge.

Therefore, the Ryzen 3 U should be faster than the Ryzen 3 U 2. AMD Ryzen 3 u can be found in several PC and notebook to support the function of the devices, although some reviews consider this processor as the mid to lower level performance. However, there is still a belief that AMD Ryzen 3 u is better than any other processor with the same specification. Ensure that any existing AMD graphics driver on the system is removed before installing a new driver package.
Performing a complete uninstall ensures a clean system and can help reduce issues or conflicts that may occur on new installations. Accept and Custom Install — Provides a list of core and optional components included in the driver package and allows the user to manually select items to be included in the installation.
Radeon ReLive install option will be presented for eligible systems near the end of the installation process. After the detection phase is complete, the following screens and prompts presented will be based on the selected installation type. The installation process begins immediately after selecting Accept and Express Install and requires minimal user interaction.

Everything looks like Ubuntu detected the hardware properly and loaded good drivers, but why is it slower than my old PC with an i? The graphics are failing to draw the screen specially on web browsers, needing repeatedly refreshing or changing screen.
Also, I had my system freezing completely I had to reset from time to time. But nobody is telling this out loud. I had to discover the hard way. Some say dist-upgrade is a better and thorough upgrade. Ubuntu Community Ask! Sign up to join this community. The best answers are voted up and rise to the top.

See community.I installed Pop OS All system hardware detected easily including integrated gpu. But the gpu performance is not up to the mark. There is lagging while watching videos. There is no any kind of smoothness. Even while scrolling there is lag. I checked it on other monitor also but the problem is still there. I tried ubuntu mate and manjaro also.
But same issue. When I tried live solus there is no such kind of issue. Video play smoothly. And kernel version of solus is 4. Running your RAM at Mhz is killing your performance worse than any thing else could.
Even web browsing with a bunch of tabs open and doing office task will see a benefit from the extra RAM as browsers are using more and more of it. My recommend is check the motherboards QVC list on the manufacturers support website. I would say 4gb of vRAM is the current standard.
At that point you could get a CPU with a lot more horse power for the same price. This likely is due to the desktop environment and browser. Linux has been plagued with these kinds of issues for a while.
Lets tackle one problem at a time though. But for solus it looks fine. Yeah you are right ryzen need much more memory frequency. But for simple use Mhz works fine. I just need to turn on XMP. But when I use Solus Mate everything runs smooth. No any kind fo issues. Did you attempt the old force pipeline composition trick? Actually this is my first pc build. How could I enable it? Which Nvdia card you are using and which linux?
Are those good? Nvidia cards are really good in tearms of power consumption and performance.
